One of the things I loved most about this past summer is seeing people light up around the vision of camp ministry!

 

This was my first summer as camp director, and one of the things that I am so keenly aware of is how camp ministry is not possible without the contributions of so many. Camp depends on steadfast prayers, willing hands, and generous hearts.

 

In Nehemiah we see a model of how God uses His people to accomplish His purposes. God gave Nehemiah an incredible vision to see the walls of Jerusalem rebuilt. Just as he gave churches and leaders a vision for the formation of EBC 4o years ago. Now, there is a whole sermon series we could unpack on this, but one thing to share now is that the vision was fulfilled through the hands of many. For Nehemiah, specific leaders and families were assigned to rebuilding each wall section. It was a shared vision with shared work.

 

Camp is a shared vision with shared work, and it brings us together.

 

And at camp we rely on families, friends, churches, donors, volunteers, leaders, prayer warriors, and more to bring each part of this place's ministry to life. And the work we do together is life changing for all we host, but also for those who host it. God's vision for a miraculous work to be done and His vision for His people to do it together.

 

Some of the moments I am most thankful for from this past summer are those conversations with volunteers, where their eyes are lit up with excitement for camp ministry. When they see it for the first time or are reminded of it all over again - that camp ministry is AMAZING - it is LIFE CHANGING - and it is WORTH IT!

 

Thank you for sharing the vision with us, and thank you for sharing the work with us. With could not do it without you, because God's vision was always to do it with you.
